Blemishes can build up on the surface of the skin, resulting in a dull complexion with fine lines, spots, and scars. At Infinity Medical Aesthetics & Wellness, dermabrasion treatments polish off the damaged and dead skin from the upper layers of your face, revealing a younger look with clearer, even skin that feels soft and smooth. Our team in Kalispell, MT recommends dermabrasion if you want an effective treatment to improve signs of aging and enhance your skin health. Designed to smooth the texture and tone of your complexion, dermabrasion is a nonsurgical option to resurface your skin and refresh your appearance. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DERMABRASION?

By exfoliating the top layers of your skin, dermabrasion encourages cell regeneration and collagen production, resulting in healthier and younger-looking skin overall. Additional benefits include:

  • Safe and noninvasive: Dermabrasion does not involve surgery or injectables and is safe for most skin types.
  • Quick recovery time: Patients return to their day-to-day activities soon after dermabrasion.
  • Personalized treatment: Infinity Medical Aesthetics & Wellness personalizes treatment plans to achieve your desired goals.
  • Long-lasting results: With proper care and maintenance, the effects of dermabrasion can last as long as possible.

OUR DERMABRASION TECHNIQUE

Following a thorough consultation, you can lie back as your skin is prepped and cleaned for the treatment. Local anesthesia may be used to numb the skin before the treatment to help you feel more comfortable. Dermabrasion is performed with a tool that applies a spinning, gritty handpiece over the skin to effectively slough off the surface of the skin. You will be able to leave immediately after the treatment to get back to your day. After the dermabrasion treatment, the treated skin will be red, swollen, and irritated similar to a light sunburn, but this may be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and creams while you heal over 7 – 10 days. You should make sure to use sunscreen to protect your sensitive skin.

DERMABRASION FAQS

Should I get dermabrasion or a chemical peel?
In your consult, your aesthetician will evaluate your skin and ask about your needs and goals. Then, they can explain whether a chemical peel or dermabrasion is what you need. Dermabrasion and a medium or deep chemical peel are both good to correct sun damage, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and a rough texture. You may discover that you enjoy one treatment over the other or that you are less sensitive after one. Talk to your aesthetician about your skin’s history and health, including previous reactions or allergies.

Is dermabrasion painful?
Depending on the depth of your treatment, your aesthetician will suggest a numbing cream or local anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout your appointment. After your treatment, once the anesthesia stops working, the treated area(s) may tingle or feel like you’ve got a slight sunburn. Your aesthetician will discuss post-treatment skin care like how often to apply ointments. Swelling, redness, and discomfort should be gone fast as your skin regenerates and your skin starts to look smoother and clearer.

Can I combine dermabrasion with other treatments?
Generally, we do not suggest combining dermabrasion with another resurfacing procedure (for example, laser skin resurfacing or a chemical peel). However, you might consider getting a facial or injectable wrinkle treatment along with dermabrasion. Tell your aesthetician about your goals during your initial consultation so they can recommend a treatment plan that matches all your needs.
